Carolyn Sue (Turner) Curran

Carolyn Sue (Turner) Curran, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.

Carolyn was born the daughter of Robert Turner and Amy Henrietta Kelly on August 6, 1942 in Joplin, MO.

She was a 1960 graduate from Lecompton High School. After high school, Carolyn attended the Air Age Institute to become a stewardess.

Carolyn married Robert Curran in 1962. They later divorced and he preceded her in death on November 14, 2011. She was a homemaker for most of her life but she did work as an office clerk for the Palace Department Store in downtown Topeka.

Carolyn enjoyed word puzzles, reading, gardening, birds and researching her family’s ancestry. She was a great seamstress and was a very active member of Silver Sneakers, which involved fitness and fitness activities and a member of a scrabble group. 

She leaves behind her two cherished daughters, Kathryn Anne Curran Grippo of Topeka and Julianna Lynn Curran of Lawrence; her mother, Amy Henrietta Bowlin; two brothers, Charles Turner and William “Willie” Turner; and a beloved cat, Princess.

Carolyn was a loving and caring daughter, mother, sister and friend and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Ed Turner.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held once restrictions are lifted.
