Beverly Joan “Bev” Schwartz, 77, of Topeka, passed away unexpectedly at her home on January 30, 2023.
She was born in Jacksonville, Illinois on January 10, 1946 the daughter of Charles and Aliene (Austin) Lonergan. Bev was a graduate of Routt High School in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Bev retired from Key Staffing where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. She had previously run Schwartz Floor Care and was a real estate agent with Kirk and Cobb Realtors.
She loved feeding the birds, spending time with her cats, and planting flowers in her yard. Her favorite times were the ones she spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. Bev was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she assisted with funeral dinners. She was a former member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church and her faith was very important to her. She also participated with her husband’s Shriner’s activities and was a volunteer for Midland Hospice Care.
Bev married Lee Schwartz in Springfield, Illinois on June 30, 1967. They shared over 55 years of marriage. He survives. She is also survived by a daughter Lisa Bredemeier and her husband Paul and their children, Lillian "Lily", Laura and Jeremy all of Overland Park, Kansas, a son Lee Aaron Schwartz of Denver, Colorado, her sister Charlene Kaufmann of Jacksonville, Illinois , and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sue and Craig Feger of Springfield, Illinois as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles “Sonny” Lonergan and Edward “Ed” Lonergan.
Bev will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday, February 10th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. where her family will receive friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King
Catholic Church on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Arab Shrine Temple or to Helping Hands Humane Society and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
