Bernard Joseph Grace, 84, of Topeka, KS passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS.

He was born August 26, 1941 in Emmett, KS to Martin Joseph Grace and Monica Marie (McLaughlin) Grace. Bernard grew up in Topeka, KS attending Assumption School and Hayden High School.

Following high school, Bernard began his career in the construction industry before going on to own and operate a refrigeration repair business. He also found success as a real estate investor, building a life through hard work and determination.

Bernard had a deep love for the simple joys in life. He enjoyed reading, taking drives, often spending time people watching and appreciating the world around him. He took pride in tending to his garden, caring for his dogs and stray kittens. Most of all, he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He had a special gift for connecting with children and created lasting memories filled with laughter and love. Though he was proudly referred to as “The Best Uncle In The Whole Wide Universe” by his nieces and nephews, he was much more of a father and grandfather figure. His love and guidance will never be forgotten.

Bernard had a compassionate heart, often finding happiness in helping those in need. He was a steady and dependable presence, someone family and friends could always turn to for support. He shared a lifelong bond with a close group of friends who became like brothers to him.

He is survived by his siblings, Bernadine (Grace) Kirk, Raymond Grace, Mary (Grace) Martinez along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Martin Joseph Grace and Monica Marie (McLaughlin) Grace and his siblings, Viva Jean Grace, William (Bill) Grace, Francis (Frank) Grace, James (Jim) Grace, Martin Grace and Terrance (Terry) Grace.

A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 801 SW Westchester Road, Topeka, KS.
