Anne L. Steinbock, 90, of Topeka, Kansas passed away Friday, October 24, 2025, at Lexington Park Assisted Living, in Topeka.
She was born on September 15, 1935, in Delia, Kansas, to John T. Cowan and Grace (Kelly) Cowan. Anne grew up on a farm in Delia and graduated from Delia High School in 1953.
Anne married Joseph V. Steinbock at the Church of the Assumption on May 9, 1959, and celebrated 63 wonderful years together. He passed away in January of 2023.
Anne went into the job force at an early age and clearly demonstrated her enthusiasm for hard work and loyalty to all those she supported. She worked for the Federal Government, Westar Energy, and at the state Legislature. She retired in 2013, after 60 years in the workforce.
She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and her faith and family were front and center in her life. Anne was a member of the Daughter’s of Isabella Little Flower Circle for over 50 years.
Anne was an avid Kansas State Football and Basketball fan and she and her husband held season tickets for over many years. Anne never missed a KSU bowl game (which were many) or a Topeka Catbackers meeting with the head coaches of both sports. Joe and Anne were proud members of the Kansas State University Foundation for many years and took extreme pride in the success of her Cats on the gridiron. She and her husband enjoyed traveling worldwide, one trip she was particularly fond of was traveling to the Holy Land.
Anne is survived by her son, Jay Michael Steinbock; her daughter, Joely Ann Murray and husband Rich; nine grandchildren; Alex (Jordan) Steinbock, Hannah Steinbock, Libby Steinbock (Isaac Hong), Emily Steinbock, Matthew Steinbock, Andrew Steinbock, Isabella Murray, William Steinbock and John (Jack) Murray; great granddaughter, Abigail Josephine Hong; daughter-in-law Julie Steinbock; and siblings Louise Deiter and Ron Cowan.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeffrey Alan Steinbock; and siblings, Elaine Philips and Laurita Hammel.
Anne will lie in state at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Friday, November 7th, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. where her family will receive friends. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church or masses may be made in her memory and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
The family would like to acknowledge the Lexington Park Assisted Living staff for the care they provided Anne over the last two and a half years.
