Anita Louise (Adame) Delci, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at The Gardens at Aldersgate in Topeka.
She was born July 22, 1946, in Topeka, to Norberto Adame and Dolores (Chavez) Adame. Anita has been a lifelong resident of Topeka and graduated from Hayden High School in 1965.
Anita worked many years as a store manager for the Taystee/Rainbo Bread Outlet where she was very social and remembered the names of many of her customers and their stories. In fact, wherever Anita went she made friends and brightened lives by showing genuine interest in the welfare of others.
Anita volunteered for the Sunflower Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), of which she was a board member. Anita ran the phone banks for many years for the local MDA telethon.
Anita was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a den mother for her son’s cub scout troop as well as supporting her children in sports and other activities by volunteering whenever she could. She was a lifelong supporter, booster and caregiver for Jennifer, who has battled Muscular Dystrophy since age 3, helping her gain and maintain a level of independence no one thought possible.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she was an usher and a member of the Third Order of St Augustine. Her faith, challenged many times, remained strong through the end, as she shared it with others in her care facility. She loved dancing from her time performing in Fiesta Mexicana in high school throughout her entire life. Anita liked to read, enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and, most of all, spending time with her extended family and large group of friends.
Survivors include her children, Desert A. Xel (Johnnie), Jennifer L. Robinson (Rick) and Mario F. Delci (Minh Nguyen); grandchildren, Maxwell and Monica Delci; siblings, Teresa Flores (Ray), Norberto “Blue” Adame (Pat), Sandy Hernandez (Leon), Juanita Adame, John Adame, Lucy Escalante (Javier), and Henry Adame (Maxine); as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Caroline Adame, Daniel Adame, Joseph Adame, and Richard Adame; and son-in-law, Rick.
The family will receive friends from 9:00am to 10:30am, a rosary prayed at 10:30am, and a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, Friday, June 27th, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery-Topeka.
