Angie Lira

Angelina “Angie” Lira, age 76, of Topeka, KS, passed away on July 21, 2026.

She was born the daughter of Guadalupe M. Lira, Sr., and Guadalupe Lopez on April 6, 1950, in Topeka, Kansas. Angie attended Topeka High School, graduating from the Class of 1968. She began her career at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Manufacturing before retiring from the Santa Fe Railroad.

Angie had a gift for making people feel welcome and never met a stranger. She treasured time spent with friends and family, especially gathering over a good cup of coffee at her favorite local coffee shops, where stories were shared, laughter was abundant, and lasting memories were made. Music was the soundtrack of her life and brought her endless joy. Whether she was relaxing at home or visiting with loved ones, there was almost always music playing. She especially loved the smooth sounds of Kenny G but appreciated all kinds of music.

When she wasn’t enjoying the company of those she loved, Angie could often be found with a good book in hand or working on a crafting project. In her earlier years, she was an active member of the Red Hat Society and proudly built an impressive collection of Longaberger Baskets. Her kind heart, infectious smile, and genuine friendship left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply loved, forever remembered, and greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Heather Morrow and her two children; siblings, Gonzalo Lira of Topeka, Fernando Lira (Carroll) of Topeka, Andrea Gonzales (Albert) of Topeka, Maria A. Ortega of Topeka, Richard Lira of Kansas City, Pam Martinez (Augustine) of Topeka, Mario Lira of Topeka; as well as a loving extended family that includes many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Guadalupe Lira, Jr., Maria D. Tetuan, Jenny Lopez, Carol Lira, and San Juana “Janie” Lira.

Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 2-5:00 P.M., with a rosary prayed at 3:30 P.M., followed by a Word of Prayer at 4:00 P.M., at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made in Angie's memory to Helping Hands Humane Society and/or Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.
