Alvin Jay Smith, Sr.

Alvin Jay Smith, Sr, 67, of Topeka, KS died Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.

He was born August 28, 1953 in Topeka, KS the son of Albert and Reba (Coleman) Smith.

Alvin worked as a groundskeeper at several Topeka area cemeteries.

He married Carolyn Sue Bailey on December 18, 1976 in Topeka.  She survives.  Other survivors include four children, Alvin Gene Smith and his wife, Rosetta of Phoenix, AZ, SueAnn Smith and her fiancé, Kevin Wheeler of Sedalia, MO, Alvin J. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Ann of Branson, MO, and Shawn Smith of Topeka along with two siblings, Ernest Stout of Texas and Alice Faye Reed of Independence, KS.  Seven grandchildren, Skye, Kyle, Hunter, Jonathon, Jacob, Madison, and Alana also survive.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Reba and several siblings.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
