Alfred Arnold Bohannan

Alfred Arnold Bohannan, 89, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

He was born August 24, 1932, in Dunlap, Illinois, one of 10 children to Myron Benton and Maude (Hayes) Bohannan.

Alfred worked in the construction and roofing industry.

He enjoyed playing poker with his boys and their families, refurbishing bicycles for children, gardening, and tinkering on projects around the house, and creating yard art.

He married Augusta “Josephine” Casley on November 15, 1952, in Peoria, Illinois.  They celebrated 69 years together.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include sons, Michael W. Bohannan of Topeka, James Alfred Bohannan and wife Dinah of Muscotah, Kansas, Matthew Jay Bohannan of Topeka, Timothy Lee Bohannan and wife Angelica of Topeka; daughters, Debra Elaine Bohannan-Rockett of Metamora, Illinois, Callie Jo Bohannan Richmond of Topeka, Teresa Danielle Bohannan Reinhart and husband Randy of Topeka, Tonya Marie Bohannan of Wamego, Kansas; 25 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gary Lee Bohannan on July 10, 2015, as well as 10 siblings.

The family will receive friends from 9:00am to 11:00am Tuesday, June 28, 2022, with the funeral service at 11:00am, both at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
