Mildred L. Chipman

Mildred L. Chipman, 79, of Topeka passed-away Wednesday morning, January 10, 2007 at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Mrs. Chipman was born in Reading Kansas on February 4, 1927, the daughter of Clarence Hagewood and Bessie Blanch Hagewood.

She was graduated from Ottawa, Kansas High School and was a member of the Topeka Bible Church.

Mildred was store manager for the Thrifty Dress Store, J.S. Lerner Vogue Store and Learner’s Shops in Topeka. She was transferred to Orlando Florida where she managed Maurice’s Ladies Ready-to-Wear prior to her retirement.

She was married to Hyman Chipman in Orlando, Florida. He preceded her in death December 14, 1983.

Survivors include two sons, Edward J. Paden and Richard Kent Paden, both of Topeka; one daughter, Sandi Allen, Scottsdale, Arizona and one brother Leon Hagewood, Whittier, California. Four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.

A brother, Floyd Hagewood and a sister, Dorothy Lenie are deceased.

Mrs. Chipman will lie in repose after 2:00 o’clock Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where friends may call.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 o’clock Saturday morning at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.
