David Jim Ramberg

David James "Jim" Ramberg, 58, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday morning, January 24, 2007 at his home. Jim was a sports writer for the Topeka Capital Journal for many years. The past few years he wrote a column for the Topeka Metro News. He was born October 28, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of David Freeman and Joanne Anderson Ramberg. Jim was a graduate of Hannibal High School in Hannibal, Missouri and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washburn University. Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his daughter, Moriyah Ramberg of Topeka; mother, Dr. Joanne Ramberg of Topeka; former wife, Nancy Nowick- Kauk of Topeka; two sisters, Linda Joler and her husband Ron of Lawrence and their children, Jake and Alec, and Laura Ramberg and her husband Ed Scheurich of Lawrence and their children, Ben, Jonah, Ella, Julia, Katie, and Copper; three brothers, Steven Ramberg and his wife Margaret Rose of Lawrence and their children, Mason and Austin, Karl Ramberg of Lawrence and his daughter Zoey and Erik Ramberg and his wife Karen Byrum of Batavia, Illinois and their children, Melody and Cameron; two stepbrothers, Damon Romine of Los Angeles, California and Jason Romine of Topeka; two aunts, Louise Nordby of Lake Forest, California and Dorothy Metzel and her husband Truman of Chicago, Illinois. Jim was preceded in death by his father and stepmother David and Sharon Ramberg. A gathering of Jim's friends, family and colleagues will be held Friday, February 2, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at The Vinewood 2842 SE 29th, Topeka, a celebration of his life and memories will begin at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Road, Topeka, 66617 or to the Kansas Wildlife Federation, 214 SW 6th, Suite 205, Topeka, 66603.
