Merlin Hisey

January 16, 1936 — February 25, 2007

Merlin "Jim" Hisey, of Topeka, passed away peacefull, early Sunday morning, February 25, 2007 surrounded by his family, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  He was 71.

Jim was a painter for the State of Kansas until his retirement in 2002.  Humor and a good joke were as much a part of his life as outdoor activities such as motorcycles, races, campting and fishing.

He attended the Church of the Assumption.

Mr. Hisey was born in Topeka on January 16, 1936, the son of Joseph Hisey and Julia Ruth Smith Hisey.  He was married to Darlene A. Pierre in Winchester, KS on November 21, 1954.  She survives at home.

Also surviving are five sons, Dennis Hisey, Ettrick VVA, Gary Joe Hisey, Valley Falls, andJeff, Duff and Jimi Hisey all of Topeka; two daughters, Renette Hisey, Topeka and Merlenea Gomez, St. Joseph, MO; one sister, Barbara Kay Northrip, Topeka' twenty-four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jim Hisey will be in repose after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Brennnan-Mathena Funeral Home where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 9:30 at the Church of the Assumption.  Interment will follow in Ozawkie Cemetery, Ozawkie, KS.
