Lorene Peterson

Lorene T. Peterson, 91, of Topeka, died October 25, 2011 at Lexington Park Care Center. She was born in a sod house near Clara, Kansas on January 2, 1920 the daughter of Peter P. and Rosa (Straub) Steier. Lorene was a homemaker. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Women?s Club and St. Vincent?s Guild both at the church, the Golden Age Club and Daughter of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503. She married Harry M. Peterson Sr. in Topeka, Kansas on April 10, 1940. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1977. Survivors include a son Harry M. Peterson Jr. of Topeka, a daughter Judith A. Grutsch of Topeka, one brother, Wilson Joseph Steier of Tarpon Springs, FL., two grandsons, Michael John Grutsch Jr. and Jeffery William Grutsch, and four great-grandchildren, Derek, Colton, Ryan and A.J. She was preceded in death by ten siblings. Lorene will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Friday after 2:00 p.m. where a Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle Rosary will be at 5:00 p.m. and a Parish Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
