Donald Edward Coolberth, 55, of New Caney, Texas, formerly of Topeka, died November 20, 2011 at his home in New Caney. He was born in Queens, New York on July 7, 1956 the son of Philip Alton and Berniece Peggy (Crosswhite) Coolberth. He served in the U.S. Army. Donald was a truck driver for HEB Construction and Harris Construction both of Topeka. He and his wife previously owned and operated the Chatter Box Tavern also in Topeka. He loved to shop for toys for his grandchildren. Donald married Jacqueline Cutwa in New Caney, Texas on March 25, 2003. She survives. He is also survived by his children, Jeff Gilbo of Ogdensburg, New York, James Coolberth of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Jennifer Hollace in New Caney, Texas, five brothers, Tommy Young of Florida, James Young of California, Robert Coolberth of New Caney, Texas, Michael Coolberth of Brooklyn, NY, and Ron Tichenor of Topeka, two sisters, Susan Roughton of Atlanta, GA. and Kathy Zirfa of Titonka, Iowa, and his eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Jessie Holbrook and her son Christian in 2009. Donald will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Graveside Services will be held on Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. with military honors provided by Philip Billard Post #1650 of the VFW.
