Joseph E. Gartner

Joseph Edward Gartner, 84, of Topeka, died June 8, 2017 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.

He was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 21, 1932, the son of Joseph A. and Rose M. (Stritzinger) Gartner.  He was a 1950 graduate of Hayden High School.

Joe worked with his brothers in the Gartner Brothers Construction Company which was established in 1958.  They also farmed.

He was a member of Sacred Heart/St. Joseph Parish.

Joe enjoyed reading, animals, especially dogs, visiting with friends, and doing activities while he was at Aldersgate Village.  He was an avid Democrat.

Survivors include his sister, Margaret L. Gartner, brothers, John P. Gartner and Michael A. Gartner all of the home, an aunt, Mary E. Stritzinger Wilkinson of Overland Park, Ks. and his cousins, Nancy Wilkinson, Lisa Hill and Gina Wilkinson-Sanchez.

Joe will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. where the family will receive friends.  A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
