Mary Lou Stein, 84, of Topeka, KS died September 2, 2017 at Aldersgate Village.

She was born December 1, 1932 in Beatrice, NE the daughter of Martin and Isabelle (Duffer) Buckholz.

Mary Lou was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

She earned her Master’s Degree in Education with an Emphasis in Reading from Washburn University and taught elementary school for many years.

Mary Lou married Robert E. Stein on December 26, 1970 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1996. She was also preceded in death by a sister Judy Cremer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66603.
