Gerald Francis “Jerry” Dempewolf, 72, of Topeka, died September 6, 2018 at the House at Midland Care.
He was born in San Bernadino, California on March 8, 1946 the son of Francis G. and Ethel R. (Phillips) Dempewolf.
He worked as a Security Guard for 27 years.
Jerry was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed reading and watching sports, especially Basketball.
He married Sharon Kay Woods at Sacred Heart Church on May 25, 1988. She survives. He is also survived by a daughter Mary Catherine (Ron) Cochran of Johnson City, Ks., a son John August (Kathy) Dempewolf of Pensacola, FL, two step children, Glen (April) Heath of Junction City, KS, and Martha Heath of Topeka, KS, nine grandchildren, five step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers, John, Dan, Steve and Bob Dempewolf and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Ethel Dempewolf, a son, Francis Paul Dempewolf and four brothers, Teddy, his twin-Lawrence, Tom and Kenny Dempewolf.
Jerry will lie in state at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Blaine, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Midland Hospice Care and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
