Jacinto "Jack" Pineda

Jacinto “Jack” F. Pineda, 82, of Topeka passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018.  He was born on September 11, 1936 in McAllen, Texas to Miguel Sr. and Guadalupe (Fernandez) Pineda.

  Jack retired from the City of Topeka Water Department as General Foreman after 37 years. 

 He married Mary F. Sanchez of Topeka, Kansas on December 17, 1956.  She survives along with three of their four children, Marcia (Jerome Gutierrez), Mark (Gina Flores), and Jacqueline (Christian Abellera).  Jack was preceded in death by their son, Michael (Terri Chaffin).  Survivors also include six grandchildren, Marissa Pineda, Tyler Shinn, Caitlin Pineda, Morgan Shinn, Blakely Volesky and Brendan Volesky.  Four great grandchildren include Gabriel Clements, Laila Clements, Levi Jones and Aiden Jones.

 Jack is also survived by six brothers, Francisco Pineda, Texas; Miguel Pineda, Jr., Washington; Rigoberto Pineda, California; Jose Pineda, Washington; Guadalupe Pineda, Washington; Juan Pineda, Washington and two sisters, Carmen Pineda and Maria Angela Pineda, Washington.  Jack was preceded in death by his parents and three of his siblings, Dolores Pineda, Carlos Pineda and Maria Gamez, Washington.

 A memorial Mass will celebrate his life at Mater Dei Assumption Church at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 5, 2018 with a Parish Rosary being prayed at 9:30 A.M.  Cremation has taken place and burial of his urn will be at a future date in West  Lawn Memorial Gardens.   A luncheon will follow the Mass at Rossiter Hall for those family and friends who wish to attend. 

 In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Jack’s memory to Mater Dei Building Fund sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603.
