Barbara A. (Sachs) Smith, 77, Topeka, passed away March 24, 2012.
Barbara was born on March 31st, 1934 in Topeka, Kansas the daughter of Carl and Ann (Stephens ) Sachs. She graduated from Hayden High School in 1952 and attended Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas.
Barbara was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for St. Matthew Parish in Topeka and St. Patrick’s Parish in Osage City. She was a member of St. Matthew and Christ the King Catholic Churches in Topeka, Kansas. She loved her family immensely, as they did her, bringing her the greatest joy and pride of her life.
She married Dale E. Smith on December 29, 1956 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on September 30th, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by sons, Gregory Smith and Rick Harris of Chicago, Illinois, Douglas (Kathleen) Smith of Topeka, and David (Michelle) Smith of Tenafly, New Jersey, a daughter Anne Wilson of Topeka; grandchildren, Katelyn, Zachary, Rachel, Andrew and Ava; a brother Stephen (Jan) Sachs of Topeka, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Barbara will lie in state at Christ the King Catholic Church from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and the family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 28th, 2012 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
